For years I was the proud owner of the "best" extreme wide angle zoom, the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8. I then made the mistake of trying out the Sony 12-24 f/2.8. Guess what, that Nikon was all of a sudden just adequate. Another one of my favourite lenses was Nikon 80-400 VR and I accepted the fact that nobody could make that extreme range perform better.
The 24-70 f/2.8 Z lens was going to be a good $1700 more than the f/4 lens. It was a no-brainer on what to do. At $1700, I can get a 50/1.8 to get to a lower DOF if I need it. You can probably see where I'm going. The Z 14-24 f/2.8 is a $2400 lens. The Z 14-30 f/2.8 is a $1300. That's $1100 that could go to getting a Z 7II instead (just about
Middle zoom trio: 14-30mm f/4 S, 24-120mm f/4 S, and 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S. Competency defined. Pro zoom trio : still comprises the three f/2.8 S lenses: 14-24mm, 24-70mm, and 70-200mm. Nothing matches them from corner to corner from 14mm to 200mm, but you pay a price and a weight penalty for that.
Nikon's first built-for-mirrorless pro zoom lens, the Nikkor Z 70-200mm F2.8 VR S ($2,599.95), is an important one. A quality telezoom is an almost required tool for event photography and
When Nikon released the Nikon D3, they also introduced the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and 14-24mm f/2.8 lenses as well. While the midrange zoom was a nice update to the old Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8, what caught people's attention was the unusual 14-24mm f/2.8 , which replaced the venerable 17-35mm f/2.8.
With the 14-30 you get to 30mm rather than just 24mm with the 14-24 which gives it a good overlap with say a 24-70 f4S or 24-70 f2.8S. The 14-24 gets f2.8 whereas the 14-30 is "only" f4. With landscapes this may not be such a benefit unless you need to do starscapes. The 14-24 is definitely better at the corners and mostly better at the edges
The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED (Nikon 24mm f/1.8G) is the seventh f/1.8 prime G-type lens to be added recently to the Nikkor lineup. Designed to maximize the resolution potential of sensors such as the 36Mp Nikon D810, these latest lenses have been breaking new ground for optical performance on Nikon DSLRs.
The slightly larger than normal LEE100 Nikkor Z 14-24 f2.8 S filter holder kit has been specifically designed for Nikon ’s latest and fastest super wide-angle Z-mount mirrorless lens, the Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S. The holder itself is beautifully designed and manufactured from high-grade aluminum metal. A newly-modified compression ring
