There's no real test for the IBS. If you start having the starting problem again, fully charge the battery using a digital charger. Disconnect the 2 leads going to the IBS (blue connector at the rear distribution panel) and the small twin lead going to the ECM. This will cause the ECM to default to 14.3V charging.

Engine ground cable (strap, right side low in engine compartment) I didn’t know we even had one of these – just never came across it (from under the car or on any diagrams) and because there’s a ground from the battery to the body – never thought about it.
