During the time you are capturing enemy cities, hire 2-3 additional heroes and send them throughout the surrounding area, to collect resources, artifacts and capture mines. Additionally, remember to visit the Red Guard Tent ( point K1a on the map ), located practically in the South-Eastern edge of the map (it will come in handy in about a week).
On larger boards, magic is the key to a successful campaign. On such maps, especially in the late stages of the game, mobility is paramount. Spells such as Town Portal, Dimension Door, Fly, and even Water Walk will let you get around the map more efficiently.

This is probably one of my favorite strategy games of all time. I have been playing this game since Heroes I but I feel out of the whole series of Heroes of Might and Magic games this is by far the best. The graphics and gameplay are timeless and it seems the older it gets the more I appretiate it.
1. Get diplo on one of your heroes, (good when using any castle, but especially important when using inferno) 2. Find yourself a rampart and get as many dwarfs as you can, they are the best creature for making demons. 3. Get that 4th level mage guild as soon as possible.

Black dragons ;-) + Inferno: Offensive troops with two non-retaliated attacks and good specials. + Necropolis: Good specials, cover of darkness structure. Second, for the heroes: I prefer might heroes to the magic ones, because in most cases the might ones still get some experience in magic.
Cost: 600. Growth: 3. The only ranged unit in the Necropolis city, at the same time being on of the most powerful shooters in the game. They have high attack attribute and damage, while at the same time their defense is above average. Power Liches are given a huge boost to health and increased damage, as well as speed.
